Social justice leaders are calling for a path forward for Black Illinoisans who have been severely impacted by the war on drugs.

Prosecutors agree that Kevin Strickland and Lamar Johnson were erroneously convicted of murder, but they remain detained with no hope of a reprieve, VICE News reports.

The defense’s legal team is attempting to put the victim on trial, according to a report in The Daily Beast.
